Keeping it Cheap with Confidently Living

This is the first episode to my Keeping it Cheap series.  I’m hoping to share with you tips, tricks and ideas on how to save a few bucks here and there.

Information from the video you might want to check out is below:

Laundry Detergent Recipe

  • 1 bar of washing soap something like Zote or what I used called Fels-Naptha
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups of Borax
  • Boiling water

grate the soap with a cheese grater put into your 5 gallon bucket at some boiling water and stir.. add a little more and stir.. keep adding and stirring until the soap is dissolved add the borax a little at a time and stir until dissolved you should use about a gallon of boiling water.. now add 2-3 more calls of hot very hot water and stir.  Cover the bucket and let sit 24hrs.  The resulting mix should be gel like take an old detergent container fill 1/4 to 1/2 with gel and the remainder with hot water.. Shake it before each use.  Easy Peasy
