I’ve had an interesting couple of weekends and really haven’t had the time to post this past week so, this weekend wind down will cover two weekends.
Last weekend was Mother’s day weekend and it was full of gifts. I received the best gift ever when my daughter graduated from the University with an Associate Degree in Arts and Science. Her plan it to test out the waters by getting a job in an animal hospital and seeing if she wants to eventually become a vet.
She definitely want’s to work in the animal field currently she’s an assistant farm curator at a local farm in our town. So i’m very proud of her accomplishment and I know she will continue to move forward and onward with lots of success.
I spent mother’s day watching a Zombie race my husband was covering the event and I got to wander around zombie infested woods.
Later in the week I received a gift from a friend from the UE. She sent me these awesome decorative pieces for my journaling which I totally love and am going to put to good use.
I also received a few cookbooks and Dante’s Inferno from my kids for Mother’s day and was taken on a Michael’s run for scrap booking materials by the husband.
This weekend we decided we’d go to Sleeping Giant Park in Hamden, CT. Now I’ve always wanted to visit the tower but the last time we were there it was icy and I couldn’t make it up the trail. This time I honestly didn’t think I was going to make it. The trail wasn’t steep but with my health and mobility issues I honestly didn’t think I’d make it up.
To my surprise I made it all the way up to the tower.
It took us a little over an hour to get to the top of the trail as I had to stop a few times to catch my breath and rest the legs. The view from the top was absolutely stunning.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever walk to the top again it was really difficult for me especially when every joint and muscle in your body is in pain. I was however, proud of myself that I made it up although my little legs are not to thrilled with me today.
The best part of the hike is that we unexpectedly ran into Jessie of Alternative Control.
It’s always great to run into friends in unexpected places. These past few weekends have been great and I’m happy to report that i’m slowly on the mend and starting to feel somewhat human. I’m hoping to get back on the traveling wagon again soon and be able to do more of what we are use to doing which is cover events, fairs, festivals and just plain getting around.
For now i’m just going to relish in my and my daughter’s accomplishment and all the love I’ve received these past 2 weeks.
